Writer's Block: Captain Planet

If everyone had their own small planet to live on and care for (like in The Little Prince), what would your planet be like?

Dark, cold, and full of horrible monsters from your nightmares.

Also: Stupid Shirts

Recently, I gave Mike Derks aka Balsac the Jaws o' Death of GWAR a stupid shirt for his Stupid Shirt Tour 2010. He just tweeted a picture of it :)

My Thoughts on Ill Nino's Dead New World

As I type this, I am listening to the last track off of Ill Nino's new album, Dead New World. Two years of waiting have culminated in this. The boys seem to have gone back to their heavier roots after experimenting a bit with their last release, Enigma. Although I loved that album and was reduced to tears more than once while listening to it, it's nice to get that raw anger back into their sound. Cristian's guttural screams sound deeper and perhaps a touch demonic. I was pleasantly surprised.

Another nice touch is a cover of the Smashing Pumpkins hit Bullet with Butterfly Wings. I am no fan of the Smashing Pumpkins but I do enjoy that song and I quite like the cover my boys have pulled off. It's...I don't know, a bit slower in some aspects but I believe they pull it off well. At the very least, Cristian's vocals are a great improvement to the song in general.

I can't pick a favorite song yet but I am extremely partial to the opening track, God is for the Dead. It's just beautiful and very reminiscent of old Ill Nino, something I wouldn't have been surprised to see on Revolution/Revolucion or Confession. Against the Wall is also a gorgeous song. I mean, Cris's voice at the beginning just makes me melt but come on, as a fan since 2001, that's no surprise there. I guess those two are pretty much tied for first place though How Could I Believe also puts up a strong fight as does Ritual. I just can't decide. I love them all.

All in all, this album is different yet familiar. It's heavier than Enigma was and yet still manages to experiment a bit. The lyrics are every bit as angry and thought provoking as ever. As a fan for almost a decade now, I approve.

Writer's Block: MAKE IT STOP!

What was the last song you couldn't get out of your head no matter how hard you tried?

Licking Cream by Sevendust
It's one of my favorite songs <3

It's an Endless Cycle

Just got out of a much needed shower. While refreshing, I can't help but think of everything that I've lost. With that one simple act, I have stripped myself of all the blood, sweat, alcohol, and whatever else I get covered in that makes me feel the most alive. I look back on everything that's happened in the last two days and I am absolutely stunned at how things played out. I never expect us to skip all of the opening acts just to hang out together in a hotel room. Those hours that we spent goofing off have lifted so much stress from my shoulders and have brought us all closer together. It was great to be so comfortable and free. There's so much more to the story. The things we did, the things we said, the people we encountered. It was wonderful.

But now the show has ended and my skin has gone from red and yellow back to a more natural skin tone. So long as my skin is still stained, a part of me can believe that things aren't over yet. It's when I look at my bare flesh that I realize that I have to go back to my "normal" life and the waiting game begins. A temporary respite while I recover and prepare to rise from the dead when the next tour comes around.

Make My Life Worth Something More

Tonight, after waiting nearly a decade, I finally got to see Sevendust live. I've loved them since I was in seventh grade (haha, seven) but tonight blew my fucking mind. They played an amazing set filled with some of my favorite tracks like Waffle, Enemy, Praise, Suffocate, Denial, Face to Face, and Driven. I cried throughout their entire performance. Lajon was having the time of his life on stage and laughing with us. It was great to see him so happy and the crowd definitely caught it.

Other random things that happened during the night:

- I was covered in the sweat of several men (singer of Hell Within, singer and bassist of Prospect Hill) via hugs (yummmmmmmmm!)
- Got elbowed in the head/face a few times
- Got kicked in the head by the singer of Prospect Hill when he decided to go crowd surfing
- Got a Propect Hill guitar pick
- Had my nail torn off while trying to catch a Prospect Hill shirt for Tori so my hand was covered in blood for the rest of the show
- Lost my flipflop when we rushed the stage when Sevendust came on
- Met a bunch of bands (Thurkills Vision, Prospect Hill, Hell Within, Honest Eye)
- Saw a couple fights

I also had the hot bassist from Prospect Hill grinding up on me for part of it, haha!

We Bleed the Same

I don't know what happened. I just know that it's my fault. It's my fault that you were hurt. It's my fault that you left. You put on a show that makes me forget that inside, you're as afraid as I am and that in some ways, your soul is in complete ruin. We seem so close and yet a chasm separates us. I'm more alone now than I ever realized I could be. Come back to me. Give me that little piece of your soul that comes with the morning sun. The night has never been so so cold and unwelcoming. I am terrifyingly alone. I miss you, I need you, I love you, and you'll never see these words. You'll never know that your heartbeat is the rumbling bass that I so adore, your voice a shield against the nightmares that plague me, your existence the gift of sound itself.

Your love is the sweetest music I will ever know.

Writer's Block: Extraordinary Inspirations

What inspires you in life? What makes you want to reach for the stars and do something truly extraordinary?

My amazing friends, the musicians that I admire, and my wonderful boyfriend.

Writer's Block: Love stinks

Which song would you pick to describe your romantic life, and why?

Easy. Shadows in Red by Sevendust

This song is just incredibly sad and all about being constantly disappointed in people that were supposed to care for you, when not even eternal vows can make a difference and dealing with the consuming loneliness created by the void that gets left behind when said people walk out of your life. You can't do anything but keep it all bottled up inside until the dam breaks and everything just comes flooding out. It's an endless cycle.

Earlier today, the first single off of GWAR's upcoming Bloody Pit of Horros album was released. I screamed like a bitch <3 I have had it on repeat nonstop.
